Frankfurt Airport is doing a trial of the world's first walk-through security scanner that aims to accelerate and ease the passenger security experience, reports Breaking Travel News.
The system allows passengers to walk at a normal pace without pausing while millimetre-wave technology detects items through multiple clothing layers, eliminating the need to remove jackets or coats. And ideally, the dreaded pat-down!
Using AI-based detection, metallic and non-metallic objects are identified and shown on a unisex avatar, minimizing invasive follow-up checks. The test will determine the efficacy of the technology as well as how much it reduces processing time for the average 15,000 daily pax passing through its T1.
