Maui's Mayor has unveiled a phased reopening plan for West Maui. Initially set to reopen on 08OCT, new details indicate not all areas will open simultaneously, reports Forbes.
The coast will reopen in sections to assist locals with transitioning back to work and finding housing. The phased approach begins with hotels from the Ritz-Carlton in Kapalua to Kahana Villas in Napili. Subsequent phases will be initiated based on the success of the previous one. While the exact criteria for assessing each phase's success remains undisclosed, travellers keen on visiting should prioritize northern West Maui despite potentially higher costs, the report advises.
