CAE Boss Talks Pilot Shortages and a Future with ‘Urban Air Mobility Vehicles’ Flying from Pearson to Downtown

Canadian airlines are grappling with a significant pilot shortage due to modest wage growth, high retirement rates, and training costs, reports The Star.

Marc Parent, the CEO of CAE, a leader in aviation training simulators, highlighted the global demand for 1.3 million new aviation professionals over the next decade, of which 300,000 will be pilots. CAE is partnering with financial institutions to assist pilot cadets with training costs and job placement. Additionally, CAE is investing in training for urban air mobility vehicles, electrically powered aircraft designed for short urban routes, such as from Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto.
