A focus was on enhancing transborder connectivity to countries south of Canada. After acquiring Sunwing Airlines, WestJet plans to integrate it to bolster resilience, offering six non-stop routes from Regina to destinations like Varadero and Mazatlan this winter.
Regina Airport Authority CEO James Bogusz highlighted WestJet's dominance in Regina, constituting 60% of the airport's total capacity. Despite Air Canada discontinuing direct flights from Regina to Calgary, WestJet seized the opportunity, surpassing pre-COVID capacity levels between the two cities.
