Cruise Visitors Met With ‘You are not Welcome’ Protests in France

During a stop at the French port of Douarnenez, protestors confronted passengers of Atlas Ocean Voyages’ World Traveler, denouncing cruise-related overtourism and its environmental impacts, reports CruiseRadio.net.

Protestors, many dressed as polar bears and sea lions, chanted anti-cruise slogans. Some wore Venetian masks, nodding to past cruise ship protests in Venice.

Atlas World Voyages, known for polar expeditions, has tried addressing environmental issues with efficient fuel consumption and waste management. However, a recent NGO report indicates cruise ship pollution in European ports mirrors pre-pandemic levels. Such protests have spurred cruise restrictions in several European cities.
