Northern Airline Partners with Second Flight School to Train Inuit Pilots

Canadian North is collaborating with Mount Royal University in Calgary to train Inuit pilots, its second partnership after teaming up with Manitoba's Providence University College earlier this year, reports Nunatsiaq News.

Addressing the national pilot shortage, Canadian North can nominate up to eight Inuit students (10% of an 80-student intake) for the university's two-year pilot diploma, which costs CAD $94,000, excluding living expenses. Successful graduates receive a conditional job offer from Canadian North. The airline is coordinating with regional Inuit organizations for funding and grants. Students will also benefit from housing specifically for Indigenous students at the school's Iniskim Centre.
