Dengue Cases Up Over 300% This Year in Mexico; Yucatán Most Affected

Dengue fever cases in Mexico surged by over 300% this year compared to 2022, with the Yucatán being the hardest hit. The Mexico Daily News reports that 71% of these cases were found in just five states.

Symptoms, which appear 5-10 days post-bite, include fever, severe headache, eye pain, and joint issues. Although a vaccine exists, it's advised mainly for those in high-risk regions with a prior dengue history. From Jan to OCT 2023, 30,320 cases were confirmed. Officials stress the importance of immediate medical care for those displaying symptoms.
