Holland America Builds on Global Fresh Fish Program with Vital Choice

Holland America Line is expanding its global fresh fish program by teaming up with Vital Choice, allowing guests to enjoy the same gourmet fish dishes onboard and at home.

According to the cruise line, Vital Choice shares HAL's commitment to serving responsibly sourced seafood.

Under this collaboration, consumers can order three premium fish varieties: Wild Alaska Halibut, Wild Pacific King Salmon, and Wild Chilean Sea Bass. These selections are available online or through the Vital Choice and Harry & David catalogues. With every order, consumers receive a HAL-inspired recipe, allowing them to recreate the cruise line's menu in their own kitchens. In addition, these dishes will be served on Holland America’s Caribbean and Alaska sailings.

"Holland America Line and Vital Choice share the belief that fish should taste great and be sustainably sourced, making this an ideal collaboration for our guests and Vital Choice customers," said Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage and guest services for Holland America Line. "Our team of chefs developed recipes that perfectly highlight the varieties of fish we will serve in Lido Market and are featured in the Vital Choice catalogue, and we look forward to debuting the dishes on board."

Starting this month, guests on the six HAL ships sailing the Caribbean can order the Gold Gala Pan-Seared Sea Bass dish at the Lido Market. As the Alaska season starts with six more ships, the menu will expand to include dishes like the Pacific Halibut with a Lime Tarragon Aioli and the Alaska Grilled King Salmon Filet with Capers and Dill. The fresh fish offerings at Lido Market come at no extra cost.

"With Holland America Line, and through exceptional cuisine, we're furthering our vision to inspire more expression, connection, and celebration," said Joseph Rowland, group president, Gourmet Foods & Gift Baskets, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. "By uniting our dedication to high-quality, sustainably sourced fish and innovative recipes, we're fostering connections and creating memorable culinary experiences for all to enjoy, whether they're cruising or savoring at home."

The Wild Alaska Halibut, Wild Pacific King Salmon and Wild Chilean Sea Bass are available in 4- or 6-ounce options, with the choice of six, 12 or 24 portions. Recipes for the Seared King Salmon and Broiled Halibut are featured in the catalogue, and all recipes will be on VitalChoice.com.

 Holland America’s Fresh Fish Initiative

This collaboration follows HAL's recent unveiling of its fresh fish program. Engaging a global network of 60 ports, HAL aims to source and serve 80 distinct types of fresh fish across its restaurants. This program promises guests fresh fish and ingredients native to the regions they're cruising through, resulting in destination-inspired menus. Furthermore, guests can look forward to daily fresh fish specials and an expanded "Savor My Catch" excursion, wherein they can catch their fish, which onboard chefs will expertly prepare.
