Open Jaw

The Jamaica Tourist Board has reported a significant growth in Canadian visotrs between January and June 2009. 175,365 Canadians visited Jamaica - an increase of 28.3% in comparison with the same period in 2008.

Highlights of the first period include a tremendous 40.2% increase from Quebec (a total of 27,906 visitors). Jamaica also continued to see development from Western Canada with an increase of 69.8% in British Columbia (9,980 visitors) and 39.1% in Alberta (17,327 visitors). The boost in visitor arrivals is a direct result of additional non-stop flights from Alberta and British Columbia. The destination expects more flights to be added this winter from various gateways across Canada.

'There is no doubt that we are excited by the increased number of Canadian visitors so far this year, but our work is just beginning,'
