Frankfurt Airport Rolls out Facial Recognition Across All Terminals

Frankfurt Airport has introduced a facial recognition system throughout its terminals, reports Business Travel News.

This expansion comes after successful biometric trials conducted by Lufthansa. Passengers can now navigate the airport, from check-in to security and boarding, by simply scanning their faces.

Travellers can register in advance through the Star Alliance biometric app or directly at check-in kiosks. Frankfurt Airport aims to equip at least 50% of its kiosks and boarding gates with this technology.

IATA's 2023 Global Passenger Survey reveals a growing traveller preference for biometric identification, with 46% having used it in the past year, marking an increase from 34% in 2022.
