Companies like European Sleeper are working to reintroduce night trains as a lower-emission option for climate-conscious travellers. However, they grapple with hurdles such as securing funding, reliable timetables on overcrowded rail networks, and maintenance issues with refurbished sleeper coaches.

To overcome these obstacles, European Sleeper aims to raise millions to purchase its own coaches. Meanwhile, government-backed operators like Austria's OBB are expanding their night train networks, but profitability remains a concern as they compete with low-cost airlines.
