MSC Cruises has reached a milestone in sustainability with the installation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel tanks on the MSC World America, which is currently under construction in France, reports Cruise Industry News.
Linden Coppell, MSC Cruises' VP of Sustainability, highlighted LNG as a crucial step toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The move represents a commitment to transition to bio-LNG and synthetic LNG as part of the decarbonization journey. The MSC World America is the company's 23rd ship and third LNG-powered vessel, part of a broader strategy. MSC World Europa, the 24th ship, will launch in 2025, focusing on Caribbean itineraries from PortMiami.
