The Government of Saskatchewan has disclosed spending CAD $130,000 on a CAD $2.2 million deal with WestJet to establish direct air routes between Saskatoon and Minneapolis, with a similar agreement for Regina, reports CTV News.
While CAD $2.2 million is guaranteed revenue to WestJet over three years, taxpayers have incurred only CAD $130,000 so far. WestJet recently accepted a CAD $1.5 million minimum revenue guarantee for Regina-Minneapolis flights starting in APR 2024. Saskatchewan sees these routes as a catalyst for potential connections to other American cities, aiming to boost economic opportunities.
