Cruises to Nowhere: A Stuttering Return to the Seas

With 50 countries completely closed to international visitors and 91 more limiting entry, cruise lines have turned to the ‘cruise to nowhere’ as a way to return to the seas during the pandemic without the dangers and complexity of resuming international voyages. Royal Caribbean is one of the lines operating cruises to nowhere with ships in Singapore. Aside from the early disruption on board Royal’s Quantum of the Seas, the move has been largely successful, with Royal saying demand has “exceeded expectations.”
