A new airline is trying to elbow in on the popular Vancouver-Tokyo route.
ZIPAIR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines, has announced it will start flights between YVR and Tokyo NRT on 13MAR 2024.
ZIPAIR features what it calls “a fully customizable travel experience based on LCC business model.”
The company said one-way prices for “Standard Value” begin at CAD$352.16. Children six and under cost just CAD$156.16. They also have some lie-flat seats on board. Tickets for “Full-Flat Value” are listed at CAD$1,102.16.
In-flight meals are extra, but the company website states there is free Wi-Fi on board.
The carrier operates a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner configured in a 290-seat layout, with an initial three flights per week. One of the few international airlines to provide a contactless inflight experience, ZIPAIR’s self-ordering payment system is accessible to order meals and goods through a personal smartphone or tablet.
Based out of Tokyo Narita, ZIPAIR currently operates in eight international destinations, including Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Seoul, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San José Mineta, and San Francisco.

Each fare includes a maximum of 7kg of carry-on baggage allowance. Additional fees apply for optional services, including checked baggage, inflight meals, etc….
