Avery Campbell Returns to ACTA to Head Advocacy

Avery Campbell, ACTA

ACTA announced its advocacy efforts will be taken up by Avery Campbell later this month following the resignation of Steve Olmstead. “ACTA would like to thank Steve for his contribution and we wish him all the best in the future, ” said Wendy Paradis, ACTA President.

Campbell returns to ACTA after a short hiatus. “We are very pleased to have Avery return to the Advocacy position,” said Paradis. “Avery was with us previously as Director of Advocacy and Industry Relations and this will ensure a smooth transition for ACTA in this important role.”

As Open Jaw reported, Campbell joined ACTA in 2021 with more than five years of travel industry experience at Awarding Canada and McCord Travel and working as the Canola Council of Canada Public Affairs Manager. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree focusing on government and communications, a law degree and a Graduate Certificate in Air & Space Law.

“With Avery’s past experience at ACTA along with his business and educational background, we know he will hit the road running in the advocacy role,” said Paradis.

Paradis said that advocacy priorities going into 2024 include working with the Federal and Provincial Governments to reduce the financial and administrative burden on Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors and to support the growth of the travel and tourism industry through national workforce development initiatives.

“Next steps with the Ontario government and TICO as an outcome of the Ontario Auditor General Report will commence this month, along with further Travel Supplier advocacy with the goal of building a stronger retail travel industry and Canadian travel industry at large,” she added.
