Just weeks after a deal with Ottawa that saw Transat receiving a $700 million loan from the the government of Canada and beginning consumer refunds, Transat has announced it will not be resuming service until mid-summer.
Transat has announced an extension of its suspension of service. In a notice on its web site this week, the operator announced, "Due to continued travel restrictions, both in Canada and in the destinations we serve, our operations are temporarily suspended until July 29, 2021, inclusively.
"Clients affected by flight cancellations will receive a notice shortly informing them of their options."
Open Jaw reached out to Transat about the delay in returning to the air.
"We continue to monitor the evolution of the pandemic and the decisions of the health authorities very closely; we will be ready to meet the consumer demand when it arises," explains Joseph Adamo, chief sales & marketing officer, Transat.
