Will This Super-Quiet Supersonic Jet Revolutionize Commercial Travel? NASA Thinks So

NASA's X-59 Quesst experimental plane, set to fly at 1.4 times the speed of sound, is anticipated to reduce the sonic boom associated with supersonic flight. NASA plans to share data with the FAA and global regulators to seek approval for supersonic flights over residential areas, while Boom Supersonic, with purchase agreements from U.S. major airlines, is set to launch its XB-1 demonstrator jet in early 2024, aiming for faster and more sustainable passenger flights.
