U.S. Customs Preclearance at YTZ: Details Arriving Shortly

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport officials will announce the next steps to bringing U.S. Customs preclearance to YTZ on 29MAY.

An afternoon press conference has been scheduled to announce the selection of a construction management firm and baggage handling provider to help deliver a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility. Timelines are also expected to be revealed.

The new space will usher in “a new era of connectivity and convenience from the heart of downtown Toronto,” said PortsToronto, which manages the airport.

The Canadian government announced in July 2023 that it would provide up to CAD $30 million for a preclearance program at YTZ for U.S.-bound customers.

“The new facility will build capacity for Toronto’s growing business and leisure passenger volumes transiting through Canada’s largest city,” officials said.

Eight Canadian airports currently offer U.S. Customs preclearance.
