EU justice commissioner Didier Reynders announced on 08JUN that 1m+ Europeans have received the new EU COVID-19 health certificate. The certificate shows the holder’s proof of immunity to COVID-19, either through vaccination, previous infection, or a negative test. It can be used for travel between member states as of 01JUL, but the EU wants as many member countries to start using it as soon as possible. Currently, nine EU countries are already issuing the certificates. Reynders said: “The more certificates we can already issue, the easier the process will be during the summer – otherwise, we risk a big bang on the first of July, which we cannot afford.”
