Florida-CDC Cruise Mediation fails, CDC Gets More Time to Answer Original Complaint

Talks to reach an agreement between the state of Florida and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) over vaccine passports were unsuccessful, leading to a two-week extension until 01JUL for the CDC to respond. CDC attorney’s argued: “Substantial activity has occurred in this case between the time that plaintiff filed the complaint (08APR) and 14JUN 2021, and defendants need a short extension of time in order to complete the response, particularly in light of the press of other business.” An attorney familiar with the case told Seatrade Cruise News the extension for the CDC does not affect whether a temporary injunction will be issued because Florida's request is to end the CDC conditional sailing order now, pending a final decision in the case.
