Details Revealed about Universal’s Epic Universe Theme Park

Universal Orlando plans to open Epic Universe in “a couple of years” and when it arrives, it will be Universal’s largest U.S. theme park, according to NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell. Shell also shared that Epic Universe will feature attractions such as Super Nintendo World and those based on content from Illumination and DreamWorks Animation. This is the first time Universal executives have mentioned intellectual properties planned for Epic Universe beyond Nintendo. Shell also mentioned that proximity to Orange County Convention Center would provide a “unique opportunity to tap into the convention business.” Construction of Epic Universe paused in spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but restarted again in MAR 2021. Shell also said that attendance for Universal parks was rebounding, even without international visitors. "(We're) very pleased with how the theme parks in Orlando are doing," Shell said. "And we really have no capacity constraints there anymore and so the summer is looking pretty strong."
