YOW Has its Busiest Day Since MAR 2020 as Travel Restrictions Start to Ease

According to Mark Laroche, president and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority, 05JUL was the busiest day YOW has seen since MAR 2020. 1,700 passengers flew through the airport at the end of the holiday weekend —and the majority of those were on domestic flights. Travel restrictions have eased as of 05JUL for fully vaccinated Canadians, but not much has changed at the airport just yet. YOW is not one of the four Canadian airports designated for international arrivals. "We don't directly receive international passengers, but we’re getting an increase in passenger volumes," said Laroche. "We'd like it to be faster but we understand travel restrictions have to be removed slowly and prudently."
