Summer Has Arrived: Europe Sees Huge Increase In Flights

Eurocontrol flight data from 06JUL, shows a large increase in the number of flights across European nations, especially Greece, Spain, and Turkey. Air traffic, calculated by the number of flights operated, rose by 43 per cent for Greece, 32 per cent for Spain, and 31 per cent for Turkey over the past two weeks. However, these numbers for Greece and Turkey are still down by 24 per cent from the same date in 2019. This is still better than the average 42.6 per cent drop average across Europe. While the U.K. continues to struggle with a 70 per cent drop compared to 2019, optimism is high as the U.K. government announces that those arriving from “amber” countries can arrive in the country without quarantine as long as they are fully vaccinated.
