Europe Remains Only World Region with Increased Hotel Construction

New JUN 2021 data from STR shows that Europe is the only region in the world with an increase in hotel construction in comparison to JUN 2020 data. According to the report, Europe’s hotel construction increased by 7.9 per cent, but planning was down by 6.4 per cent. Meanwhile, the Americas’ hotel construction went down by 11.2 per cent, but planning went up by 25.6 per cent. In the Asia Pacific region, construction rates fell by 2.8 per cent, and planning went up by 13.6 per cent. In the Middle East and Africa, hotel construction rates fell by 3.6 per cent and planning rates fell as well by 13.8 per cent. These statistics are measured by room numbers.
