Deborah Ward has been named the executive director of Visit Omaha by the city’s mayor, Jean Stothert.
Ward has served as the interim director since JUL 2020, and has worked with Visit Omaha for the past 14 years.
“She is innovative, connected and respected; qualities I believe are critical to this position,” said Stothert in a statement. “As Omaha reopens, she has the experience and long-standing relationships to position Omaha as a prime destination for events, conventions and leisure travel.”
Prior to the pandemic, Ward led a campaign to bring in more visitors to Omaha from the surrounding cities. This led to a 25 per cent increase in visitation.
