As of 21JUL 2021, visitors looking to go up the Eiffel Tower or visit French museums now need a special COVID-19 pass, a new measure the French government implemented to combat the rising number of Delta variant infections. Those looking to get the pass must show proof of full vaccination, present a negative COVID-19 test, or provide proof that they have recently recovered from the virus. At the Eiffel Tower and other cultural sites, health workers will scan QR codes on health passes or check printed vaccine or test certificates. Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron wants to expand the COVID-19 pass requirement to all French restaurants and many other areas of public life.
