Airport-based, Pre-Travel Testing Growing; 2nd Company Launches at YYZ

Another COVID-19 testing company is opening its services at YYZ.

FH Health, which also operates more same-day COVID-19 testing clinics in Ontario, is opening a new drive-through testing centre near YYZ, located at 6585 Airport Road.

It will be one of several of the company’s clinics across the GTA, which will provide PCR test results in as little as 12 hours, rapid antigen tests in under 30 minutes and IgM and IgG antibody tests within 24 hours.

As OpenJaw previously reported, this follows another launch of a COVID-19 testing service by Switch Health Holdings Inc., which announced a “permanent onsite” testing service for YYZ available to departing travellers, airport workers as well as members of the community.

According to the company’s release, the FH Health’s new testing centre will be able to provide Canadians better access to visit China, as these tests and the centre as a whole is approved by the Chinese government to meet the country’s strict pre-departure testing requirements.

"As more people begin to travel again the possibility of transmission is still there – even among those who are fully vaccinated – so most countries, including China, still have strict pre-departure testing requirements for Canadians," said Dr. Peter Blecher, Chief Medical Officer of FH Health. "RT-PCR, rapid antigen and antibody tests are all critical tools for quickly detecting and isolating asymptomatic cases and preventing transmission, which helps keep all travellers and communities safe."

The FH Health website also provides more information in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese for Chinese Canadians looking to get tested.
