As restrictions ease, many Canadians are looking to travel again, but some may soon realize that travel is less straightforward than it was pre-pandemic. While negative COVID-19 tests are still required by most countries for arrival, many countries also require proof of vaccination. In particular, many countries are not allowing tourists with mixed vaccines due to certain safety policies, such as the U.S. and some cruise lines. Caribbean destinations such as Jamaica, Cuba, and the Domincan Republic allow mixed vaccines, while Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago do not. The European Union has approved Vaxzevria, the European-manufactured version of AstraZeneca, but it has not authorized COVISHIELD, the Indian-made version of the same vaccine that some 80,000 Canadians have received at least one dose of. Countries like Italy, Portugal, and Poland do not recognize COVISHIELD, but a growing number of European countries do, such as Austria, Spain and France.
