PortMiami Readies for Tropical Storm Fred

PortMiami is preparing for tropical storm Fred, which may bring sustained winds of up to 25mph and wind gusts of up to 40mph, according to the Coast Guard captain of the port which declared “Port Condition Whiskey” on 11AUG. The port’s facilities are still open to all commercial traffic and all transfer operations may continue while Whiskey remains in effect. As of 12AUG, Fred was moving between eastern Cuba and the southeastern Bahamas, with heavy rains continuing across portions of Hispaniola, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
