Flair Airlines' Boeing 737 MAX 8

Flair Airlines has announced a new base at YEG, as well as new service to 4 western U.S. destinations. In addition, the ULCC is also expanding its domestic network from YEG to extend its current summer service from YEG to YLW and YYJ through the winter season.

The 4 new non-stop U.S. destinations served through YEG will begin operations in DEC 2021 and will extend through spring 2022. The first flights begin 16DEC from YEG to LAS and BUR followed by service to PHX and PSP later in the week. Flair will fly from YEG to BUR, PHX, and PSP 2 times weekly, and will service LAS three times weekly with flights starting at CAD $99.

The move is a direct challenge by the Ultra Low Cost Carrier to the western sun routes of established airlines.

Flair will base aircraft and flight crews in YEG starting in DEC 2021, adding 50 new jobs to its currently employment base of 75 operations and business staff.

“These new US destinations will be popular non-stop routes as we rebuild our network,” says Tom Ruth, President and CEO, Edmonton International Airport.

Malcolm Bruce, CEO, Edmonton Global, states, "These flights will unlock opportunities for businesses across our region, as well as maintain important connections into the United States. Rebuilding air service is a key part of our strategy to drive the economic recovery of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.”
