Warning: Some Vacation Rentals Don't Include Access to Property Amenities

While travellers may be enticed by lower costs at some vacation rental lodgings, they may find that they do not have access to the property’s amenities. The rise of vacation rentals has resulted in some hotels not having as much control over rooms in their own inventories, and less opportunities to entice guests. In order to control the issue, many condo hotel / resort properties only allow full access to facilities to guests booked directly by the resort's head office. This could mean that travellers who have rented a property cannot access amenities they assumed were included, such as the tennis court, pools, or the golf course. If they are allowed access, it may only be at inconvenient times. Some owners may omit these details during advertising, and Frommers notes that omissions may be a red flag. Another reason for travellers to book with a travel advisor.
