Hurtigruten has introduced the line’s third battery-hybrid powered ship, the MS Otto Sverdrup. The line said the ship sailed on its inaugural voyage on 24AUG from Hamburg, Germany. The departure also marked the first first year-round expedition cruises from Germany as well as the line’s return to expedition cruises after pausing operations due to COVID-19. “We are thrilled to finally be back exploring with our guests. This is a day we have all been really looking forward to after a very challenging year for the entire travel industry,” said Hurtigruten Expeditions CEO Asta Lassesen.
