According to new reports, short-term rental (STR) bookings are going strongly despite the surge in new Delta variant cases across the U.S. Data from Guesty, an STR management platform, shows that reservation volume is 122 per cent higher than this time last year. Nightly rates for STRs are also up, jumping 33 per over 2020 and 23 per cent over 2019. AirDNA, a short-term rental data firm, shows similar trends. In JUL 2021, STR occupancy was at 74.9 per cent, the highest point on record, with some markets as high as 88 per cent. Guesty’s report says, "Despite the threat of variants such as delta, consumers are still willing to travel." Additional data from Guesty suggests that the holidays will be big for STRs, with reservations for Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and summer 2022 already rising, and prices along with it.
