Puerto Rico has implemented new health protocols, including a business curfew and the return of its indoor mask mandate, among others. Masks must be worn in indoor settings, as well as outdoor places where there are more than 50 people, regardless of vaccination status. Puerto Rico’s curfew will require all businesses to close from 12am to 5am, with the exception of emergency services, pharmacies and hospitals, gas stations and restaurants. Restaurants can only operate delivery services during curfew hours, with the exception of hotel restaurants, which can remain open but only for hotel guests. During this time, alcohol sales and public consumption of alcohol is also prohibited. The new restrictions are the result of a spike in Delta variant cases despite Puerto Rico’s record-breaking summer for tourism.
