Unvaccinated Carnival Pax Denied Entry to DR on Arrival at Amber Cove

Unvaccinated passengers aboard Carnival Magic were disappointed to note that they were not allowed to disembark after arriving at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. After arriving, the ship was initially not allowed to disembark guests at all, but eventually only vaccinated passengers were allowed to come ashore following an appeal from the ship’s captain. Even then, those passengers were subject to random testing, shore excursions were cancelled, and beaches were off limits for those guests. Shopping areas and the pool were still accessible. No explanation was given by the Dominican Republic on the new restrictions, despite the Mardi Gras arriving at Amber Cove in AUG without incident and a larger passenger capacity.
