Disney, Carnival Cruise Line Introducing In-Terminal Passenger Testing

Both Disney Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line have introduced in-terminal passenger testing. For Disney, the line has announced that as of 13SEP 2021, all guests, regardless of age and vaccination status, will be required to take a pierside PCR test prior to boarding. The cost of the test will be covered by Disney. In addition, Disney has updated its health protocols to now required a rapid PCR test for the pre-trip test, and will no longer accept rapid antigen tests, among others.

For Carnival, the line announced that it is developing plans to offer rapid testing at all of its US homeports. As of 13SEP, Carnival will be requiring pre-cruise testing for all guests, regardless of vaccination status, to be done within two days of the sailing date. Carnival is still working out the details of its new requirements, but says that it “will be subsidizing the infrastructure of the mobile testing sites, but the company providing the testing will charge a per-person fee.” The fee has yet to be announced. Carnival notes that the test providers will not accept insurance but will give guests a receipt if they wish to submit the cost to their insurance provider.
