KLM Increases Frequency Across Canada Following Int’l Border Changes

With leisure travellers once again permitted entry into Canada, KLM has resumed pre-Covid levels of service from Canadian gateways.

As of 07SEP, KLM is offering flights from Vancouver (Tue/Thu/Fri/Sat), Calgary (daily), Edmonton (Thu/Sat via YYC), Toronto (daily) and Montreal (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun). Codeshare with WestJet provides service from secondary gateways.

“We are delighted that the Canadian government is setting a good example by allowing vaccinated people to travel again,” said KLM’s president and CEO, Pieter Elbers, in a statement.

“Thanks to its decision to ease restrictions, we can once again do what we do best: connect people and give them an unforgettable experience. Our customers can now reunite with their families in Canada, or do business face-to-face. Being able to fly passengers to our various Canadian destinations is an important milestone and another step on the road to recovery.”

In its statement, the airline said its worldwide network of destinations is pivotal to its post-pandemic recovery strategy. KLM maintained its passenger and cargo network as much as possible during the pandemic, which it says makes it easier for the airline to scale up now as KLM looks to resuming operations in other markets soon, too.

Elbers added pointedly in his statement, “ We hope that travel restrictions to and from the US will also be lifted soon.”

KLM also took the opportunity to highlight new health and safety protocols for its flights, maintaining “the highest possible hygiene standards before, during and after the flight. Its efforts have been recognised with the APEX Diamond Award, making KLM one of the leading airlines in terms of hygiene and health safety.”

The airline also reiterated the flexibility if provides pax when it comes to booking, rescheduling or cancelling their trip.
