Onboard App; E-Mustering: Technology Enhances Seabourn Onboard Experiences

The deck of the Seabourn Ovation

Ultra-luxury Seabourn is adding high-tech to its ‘high-touch’ onboard lifestyle. The cruise line has revealed a list of new features, all of which they say will make voyages even more luxurious.

“We are always thinking of new and more innovative ways to ensure we provide the best luxury hospitality experience to our guests,” said Gerald Mosslinger, Seabourn’s senior vice president of Guest Operations. “Over the past 18 months, we examined our onboard amenities and services, from culinary to entertainment to technology, and guests will find even more ways where we’re creating memorable Seabourn Moments.”

Guests on upcoming Seabourn cruises will find three important new technological enhancements to their journeys:

Seabourn Source App: a new app, Seabourn Source, features the ability to view the day’s events on screen, order ahead a fresh cappuccino in Seabourn Square and make reservations in dining venues. The Android or iPhone mobile app also lets guests retrieve digital boarding passes to expedite the embarkation process and prepare required health assessments prior to embarkation. Within Source guests can use Uncorkd to access extensive lists of hundreds of wines or learn about different varietals during onboard wine lectures.

Automated Embarkation Process: Seabourn has simplified and automated the check-in process with “mBark” enabling guests to go from curbside to the ship faster. Including mobile boarding pass, guests are now provided with a specific assigned embarkation time. The electronic boarding pass is scanned when they arrive at the terminal and once on board, they will be escorted straight to their suites, which will already be prepared, allowing them to settle in and start enjoying their vacation right away.

“e-Mustering”:  Guests can complete the required safety briefing from the comfort of their suite by watching the mandatory safety video on the TV. Guests then need to visit their designated muster station anytime between boarding and 30 minutes before the ship departs and listen to the captain’s announcement.

Seabourn also announced it’s now making unlimited, shipboard WiFi complimentary as part of its all-inclusive offering. Guests needing additional bandwidth for more devices, video streaming or cloud storage services can upgrade their package at a nominal service charge.

In addition to tech enhancements, Seabourn says it has developed over 300 new recipes for its dining venues, including vegan choices. It’s adding Breakfast at The Patio, an additional al fresco, poolside breakfast option, as well as a revamped cocktail hour at The Club with small bites that change daily, and extending it to the deck outdoors.

Four new entertainment experiences have also been developed, including a new show featuring the dances and music of Latin America, and Serenade, a classical concert on deck during sail away.

In addition, new housekeeping and health and safety enhancements will add to the comfort and security of the Seabourn cruising experience.

With a background in broadcast news and travel lifestyles TV production, Lynn is just as comfortable behind or in front of the camera as she is slinging words into compelling stories at her laptop. Having been called a multi-media ‘content charmer’, Lynn’s other claim to fame is the ability to work 24/7, forgoing sleep until the job is done. Documented proof exists in a picture of Lynn at the closing celebrations of an intense week, standing, champagne in hand - sound asleep. That’s our kind of gal.
