Australia is on track to reopen its borders by Christmas 2021, according to the country’s minister for trade, tourism and investments. "I do empathize with the Australians who have been denied the opportunity to travel overseas this year," Tourism Minister Dan Tehan said, before adding "It's another reason why everyone should get vaccinated and we have to stick to the national plan that will see our international border open up -- at this rate by Christmas at the latest." In order to reopen, Tehan said that the country must reach an 80 per cent national vaccination rate. As of 22SEP, around 38 per cent of Australians have been fully vaccinated. International visitors to Australia will reportedly need to verify that they are fully vaccinated before entering.
