According to Tripadvisor’s seasonal "Fall Travel Index,” 54 per cent of Americans are planning to travel this fall, between 01SEP and NOV30. This number is down 13 per cent from summer 2021, but up from spring numbers and 10 per cent higher than the number of people travelling globally this fall. 63 per cent of respondents are planning to take two or more trips this fall, with long weekend trips being the most common. Travel Agent Central notes that while travellers preferred outdoor and nature destinations during the pandemic, the Index revealed that demand is gradually shifting back towards cities. Among the top 10 destinations Americans are visiting this fall are Las Vegas, New York City, and Orlando, followed by Myrtle Beach, SC; Ocean City, MD; Honolulu; Nashville; Chicago; Miami Beach and Virginia Beach rounding out the top 10 list.
