Canadian Snowbirds Question why Land Border is Still Closed as They Prepare to Fly to US., Ship Their RVs

As the US land border remains closed, patience is wearing thin for some fully vaccinated Canadian snowbirds who live in their RVs year-round, and who may have to pay to fly to the US and transport their RVs by land to their destination. "It just does not make sense why they would let people fly, but not let people drive," one told CBC. If the land border closure is extended past 21OCT into NOV, she says she and her husband will pay a commercial driver around CAD $700 to transport their RV across the Michigan land border. Although Canadian travellers currently can't cross by land, there are no restrictions on them importing vehicles to the US. In addition, they will then pay to fly from Toronto to Michigan to pick up their RV and drive it to Texas. Snowbirds argue that travelling in a privately-owned RV is a safer way to cross the border than flying during a pandemic.
