Testing Costs Remain Hurdle for Canadian Travellers

CTV News reports that while Canadians are looking to travel, testing costs and availability, particularly for PCR tests, remain a barrier for travellers. For travel to the U.S. a rapid antigen test is required, and can be found at many pharmacies for prices as low as CAD $17 or as high as CAD $40. However, for return travel to Canada for anyone five years of age or older, PCR tests are required, which often take longer to get results and typically cost more money. Andrew Dagenais, who recently returned from a vacation with his wife, said they paid USD $150 per person for a PCR test at a local clinic in Las Vegas. CTV News suggests that for trips less than three days, travellers can purchase a take-home PCR test in Canada, which costs around CAD $200.
