The private proof-of-vaccine app, Portpass, which holds personal information of more than 17,000 users, still continues to expose data after assurances that data-security problems have been fixed after a relaunch and multiple updates. In some cases, photos of drivers’ licenses and passports are visible online. CBC News initially reported back in SEP that user data was unsecured, and Portpass was taken down in response. After relaunching in OCT, several experts in software development have since reached out to CBC with concerns that user data was still accessible. CBC News was able to independently confirm that the records of more than 17,000 users were still unsecured after the relaunch.
