In a year without cruising, the U.S. has lost an estimated US$15 billion in direct cruise expenditures while ancillary businesses have lost approximately $44 billion. This is according to Federal Maritime Commissioner Luis Sola, who has headed the agency's fact-finding into the impact of COVID-19 on the U.S. cruise industry and ports. He said restarting cruising revolves around vaccines for crew and passengers.
