Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair said that confusion over B.C. residents being fined for crossing the Canada-U.S. border without a PCR test, which they were exempted from under newly announced travel rules specifically for the province, has been resolved. On 23NOV, Blair said he spoke with the president of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to re-clarify his order that offers a COVID-19 test exemption to fully vaccinated B.C. residents in border towns looking to pick up food, medicine or gas in the U.S. as a result of the flooding in the province. Some B.C. residents recently reported they had been assigned hefty fines for violating the Quarantine Act. “That direction was given to the border services agencies, but clearly some clarification was required and that’s now been given,” Blair said.
