On 27NOV, Israel announced that it would ban entry for all foreigners into the country, making it the first country to shut its borders completely in response to the new Omicron variant. According to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the ban would last 14 days pending government approval. In addition, Japan announced on 29NOV that it would close its borders to all foreigners beginning 30NOV. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that these are “temporary, exceptional measures” until there is clearer information on the variant, but did not say how long the restrictions would stay in place.
