Guided Vacation Operators Create New Wellbeing Jobs to Assure Travellers About Trip Safety

Tour operators are positioning themselves to help customers during the pandemic, with new roles specifically created to ensure safety for guests. Two tour operators, Trafalgar Tours and Insight Vacations, have placed wellbeing directors on their trips. “Their role is primarily to ensure that all of our suppliers — the restaurants, the hotels, any attractions or venues that we go to — are all adhering to whatever the local protocols are,” said Melissa DaSilva, the U.S. president of Trafalgar Tours. “They are ensuring that our guests can get any questions answered that come up during their travels.” Guy Young, president of Insight Vacations highlights that during the pandemic, many travel directors were out of work, so the company could hire and train them to serve as wellbeing directors.
