Analysis: As Omicron Piles on Economic Fears, Canadian Outlook Offers Glimmer of Bland Optimism

In an economic analysis, the CBC says that while Omicron has caused the stock market to stumble, new data on the Canadian economy is expected to be “reassuringly bland.” New reports say that there are increasing signs that the Omicron variant is “just more of the same.” The Wall Street Journal reports that "Investors [are] betting that the impact of the omicron COVID-19 variant will be less profound than initially feared.” While recent data on Canada’s economic growth is “healthy,” CBC reports that it is also “bland enough to avoid sparking new inflationary fears” regarding the Omicron variant.
