Foreign Pax Stranded in Canada Over New Testing Rules Confusion

As reported by U.K. publication the Independent, “dozens” of passengers have been stranded in Canada after being denied boarding back to the U.K. due to that country’s new testing rules. Posts on Twitter from U.K. travel journalist Connor McGovern said that he and other Air Canada and British Airways passengers were left in Vancouver on 06DEC due to two different interpretations of advice published by the British government. The U.K.’s new rules require tests results taken on the day of departure as of 07DEC. As McGovern’s flight was on 06DEC, many other passengers interpreted that as being before the rule change, but were still informed they needed tests to board. Canada has its own new set of mandatory arrival testing which are creating other instances of confusion in Canada’s airports.
